NO. 3 CO. AT ROCKLIFFE.
           The members of No. 3 Co., 42nd Regt., Perth are having an excellent time in camp at Rockliffe. The grounds and scenery along this particular part of the Ottawa River is said to be equal to any in Ontario. The officers are as follows: Chaplin, Rev. D. McIntosh; captain, J.M. Balderson; lieutenant, E.H. Wilson; col. sergt., Wm. Wright; ord. sergt., Jno. Bothwell; sergts., A.A. Bowes and Fred Lees; corps, Fred Bolton and Alex. Cameron.
           The Sunday divine service was held on the drill field at which some 2,000 were present. The address was delivered by Rev. D. McIntosh in excellent manner.
           Field Marshall Bates leaves to-day (Wednesday) for his home in Perth to take charge of the Old Boys' Reunion.
           Tippin Bros., of Ottawa, formerly of Perth, visited the lines Tuesday evening and furnished the best of music. Their orchestra is one of the best in the city.
           The troops have been inspected by Col. Hodgins and all ranks were highly congratulated.
           The following from Perth have visited the camp grounds: Mayor Foy, Dr. Dwyre, J.E. deHertel, W.J. McKerracher and Hon. Lieut.-Col. A.J. Matheson.
           No. 3 Co. have many of the best marksmen in the regiment. The boys think that when they return home, after having such good instruction and practice in camp they could easily win from Old Boys of Perth.
           Camp breaks up Thursday afternoon and No. 3 will arrive home the same evening on the local.

SPORTING GOSSIP.
Open Championship of Canada.
           Mr. P. McLeod, instructor of Perth-upon-Tay Golf Club, goes to Toronto this week, where he will meet the best golfer in Canada and the United States for the open championship of Canada, on July 1st. Eighteen holes will be played in the morning and eighteen in the afternoon, strokes to count.
           Perth defeated Smith's Falls on Saturday last in a game of baseball 14 to 10.
